Put Yourself In The Picture

By | August 13, 2017

We’re all guilty of it, aren’t we?  Leaving ourselves out of photos because we’re taking them.

My camera roll is full of the children, Hubbie, cats, images for the blog and review photos I’ve forgotten to delete but not that many of me.

I’ve never liked my picture taken, I’m extremely critical of myself and I’ll think “nope, don’t look right, hair/face/backside looks wrong” and it’s delete, delete, delete.

But I’ve come to realise that I’m not only deleting images but also memories for the children, images that they aren’t going to look at and think “mumma looks terrible” but more along the lines of “that was a funny moment”.

We had such a moment yesterday, I’d ordered some dry shampoo for post-op when I won’t be able to have a bath for a while afterwards (ugh, I know!) and the shampoo arrived together with a free round brush.

D was absolutely fascinated by this and I demonstrated how it could be used, together with a hair dryer (or “hair driver” as D calls them) to make hair have a bit more body or a curly effect.

She wanted to have a go on my (dry) hair and was delighted with the (rather messy) results, so pleased that she wanted a photo or two.

She couldn’t stop laughing while taking these, they might not be the sharpest/best pictures ever but they represent to her – and me – a few minutes of giggly fun and we’ll both remember them after the images have been buried in my camera roll.

So, let the children take more photos of you and put yourself in the picture, make some memories for them, silly or serious it really doesn’t matter!

This is so true, I’m so guilty of always being the photographer.

I am so very guilty of doing this. So much so that we are having family photographs taken next weekend as I realised that we don’t have any with me on x

This post really hits home, I always delete photos of myself or don’t bother taking them in the first place. It’s silly thought because our girls will want the memories, regardless of what I look like! Thanks so much for sharing with #Blogstravaganza xx
