30 Day Music Challenge – Day 8

By | July 9, 2017

Hope no-ones bored with this yet, music has always played a massive part in my life so I’m really enjoying this.

Today’s prompt is “A Song About Drugs and Alcohol”, one that instantly sprung to mind was “The Drugs Don’t Work” but, as I want this to be about songs that I listen to, decided not to choose that one.

Instead I’ve gone for:

One by Inxs, Suicide Blonde.   Click here for the video.

It doesn’t specifically mention drugs but I think it’s alluded to:

“White light everywhere

But you can’t see a thing

Such a squeeze

A mad, sad moment

Glory to you, glory to you, take me there
Got some revelation put into your hands

Save you from your misery

Like rain across the land

Don’t you see

The colour of deception

Turning your world around again
You want to make her

Suicide Blonde”

And as this song is very well known to be about Michael Hutchence’s “corruption” of a certain blonde singer, I think it alludes to drugs as well as other deviances!

It’s a great song and another example of a great voice gone too soon.

I couldn’t think of any songs with alcohol mentioned, can you?

I’ve not heard of this song before, will have to give it a list. I think this is a great challenge. I might have to have a look at doing it myself.
