30 Day Music Challenge – Day 12

By | July 13, 2017

I love today’s prompt, this has made me smile all the way through writing this post.

It’s “A Song That You Love From 2011” and you might think “hmmm, J’s an 80’s gal, what will she find to pick?”

Easy-peasy!

Jessie J’s Price Tag makes me smile every time I hear it because D’s class sang it at their Proms performance one year.

It was brilliant to see a group of SN children doing the “everybody look to the left” – very pronounced left move – and then “everybody look to the right” – ditto – with the “b-bling, b-bling” hand actions and all.  Really good fun.

If I play Price Tag at home, D will initially have a little moan (I know, we are at the teen stage now) and then she’ll (usually) smile and sing along.

Lovely, happy memories associated with this song 😊

“Seems like everybody’s got a price

I wonder how they sleep at night

When the sale comes first

And the truth comes second

Just stop for a minute and smile

Why is everybody so serious

Acting so damn mysterious

Got shades on your eyes

And your heels so high that you can’t even have a good time

Everybody look to their left

Everybody look to their right

Can you feel that, yeah

We’re paying with love tonight

It’s not about the money money money

We don’t need your money money money

We just wanna make the world dance

Forget about the price tag

Ain’t about the uh cha-ching cha-ching

Ain’t about the yeah b-bling b-bling

Wanna make the world dance

Forget about the price tag”

Other songs I liked from 2011 are “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga and “Someone Like You” by Adele.

Not totally 80’s focussed eh?

Their performance sounds amazing fun to be part of and also watch. Without the back story this would have been an unusual choice

I’m impressed there are actually a few songs I know in the top singles list, I don’t remember hearing the Jessie J one so you are definitely more in touch than me!

Out of these Adele would be my favourite as she has such a fantastically powerful voice.

2011! Gosh I feel old. There are some songs that I still listen to and it feels like they got out few years ago instead of six 😀
