Rollercoaster – Weds 14th Sept 2016
By Jeannette | September 14, 2016
Some weeks it feels like we’re on an emotional rollercoaster, a positive day follows on from a not-so, I don’t like to use the word “bad” if I can help it.
Today (joy of joys) we had the span of an emotional rollercoaster on the way home with D, poor thing.
She started out extremely positively because – mega proud Mumma moment here – she opted to stand for the school council and got voted in! She’s very excited about starting this, albeit with some slight nerves about the meetings but that’s natural, that fear of the unknown but this is such progress for her. Absolutely brilliant.
So, our warm walk home started well until she mentioned that a teacher had put something laminated in her bag and she didn’t know what it was.
So, we looked, because she’s a curious little thing and – I don’t what she was expecting it to be but – it was a social story for her injection next week.
Oh dear. Memories of previous injections and accompanying angst came back, together with worries in advance for next week.
Tricky isn’t it? I want her to be aware that it’s happening so it’s not a massive shock but I don’t want the worries to overwhelm her, especially as she has some changes to routine later this week and a busy Saturday.
Those fingers are being crossed again!
