This week’s #WOTW and #R2BC – Fri 13th May 2016

By | May 13, 2016

It’s been a lovely, sunny end to the week here, I wish I could say the emotions and general ambience of our week has been similar, unfortunately it hasn’t.

It’s been down to this:

Mud. Good old slippery, gloopy mud.  A short word for the week, but one that sums it up nicely.

It was worse earlier on in the week, though:

This is the way we walk to and from school.  It’s (usually) a peaceful walk with us spotting squirrels, flowers and birds and it’s far easier on D than walking past the (very busy) primary school with the children (and strangers to her) rushing past.

Unfortunately D doesn’t like to deviate from her route, for the reasons above and any suggestion that we go via a different route was not met well (understatement).

So we’ve trapsed through deep puddles and squidy mud.  D had an afternoon assembly today which parents were invited to and I was told most definitely by D that I was not to turn up with muddy boots!

So, whilst I can’t say the mud and D’s unwillingness to try a different route has made me smile (it hasn’t), there must be some other reasons to be cheerful…

Looking after me – I’m not brilliant at making sure I’m healthy in mind and body but this week I made an appointment to get something that’s been niggling sorted.  The referral process was super speedy and I have an appointment in half term.  Fingers crossed that everything else is as fast.  I’m pleased with myself for making that appointment.

Today’s assembly was fab.  In all the time D has been at her school, this is the first one I remember parents being allowed to go along to (she’s been there six years!!) apart from singing at Christmas, proms performances and Christmas plays – ie not often. It was lovely to see how much the children she’s growing up with have developed in confidence.

There’s no doubt other happy bits but the week has been such a rollercoaster emotion-wise – thanks to the mud! – that I’m very glad it’s Friday.

Enjoy the weekend!

Mud is not pleasant to be walking through on the way to and from school. Still it looks like you are well kitted out to deal with it. #WotW

Oh, I am not a fan of mud! Poor you! Glad the assembly went well, though 🙂 Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
