Late – Weds 25th May 2016

Our love/hate (definitely no middle ground) week is continuing, I’m afraid.
I knew today – and in particular, this evening – would be challenging. D’s Ks3 classmates all headed off to Drury Lane after lunch today, to see “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” as part of their focus on the works of Roald Dahl. How amazing is that?
However I have absolutely no idea if she enjoyed it because she’s been furious that they got back late (7.20pm) and her usual routine has been totally disrupted.
There’s been refusals to communicate and there’s been tears. Tears of frustration that it’s late and she can’t do what she normally does and then she’ll get crosser because I’ve gently mentioned that she’d just spent 15 minutes crying and that she could have done something a bit more enjoyable.
From a mum point of view, I’m disappointed for her that a change which she’s known about and isn’t a regular occurrence, hasn’t been met well at all and I don’t know if she enjoyed the performance.
I’m hoping she did and was just furious when she saw me because it was so late and yes, obviously it’s my fault because I signed the permission slip.
Hopefully tomorrow or the next day, when she’s more relaxed, I might found out what she thought of the show (she loves the film). Hope so.
