Emotions – Thurs 5th May 2016
By Jeannette | May 5, 2016
What a week! What an absolute rollercoaster of a week, there can only be one word to sum up our week:
From the severe anxieties that D showed in the run up to yesterday, the absolute joy of yesterday afternoon and the extreme anger she presented when she came out of school today, it’s definitely been an emotional one.
I have to admit, I was so worried about her during the day yesterday, that I had a cry. It didn’t really help, I just felt snivelly and miserable afterwards and felt on the verge of tears for the majority of the day…until I saw our girl and this:
Her team only came first, didn’t they?!?
It got better. I took her into school this morning and the PE teacher said “did you tell Mummy, that you’re all going to the final?”. Umm, nope and it’s at the Olympic pool in Stratford! I honestly felt like my head was going to burst with absolute pride and I couldn’t stop smiling.
Until this afternoon, when an extremely angry D came down the stairs, bolted past me and proceeded to shout/stomp/hurt herself/hurt me/kick away at anything and everything as we walked through the woods home.
What makes it worse when D has these extreme emotions is that she cannot physically tell me what’s wrong until she is calmer, so we have to hope that the calmer time – when she’s completely exhausted – doesn’t take long.
It turned out that she’d made something in arts and crafts, had put it on the classroom floor as she got her bag to come home and the basket vanished. So it’s gone home with someone else. To D, who absolutely loves her crafting and no doubt spent ages perfecting it, this was mega. Maybe it will turn up.
And what’s made me cheerful this week?
As if you had to ask….we’re so proud of her. She had such anxieties about going to Stoke Mandeville, but the result was worth it. Now we need to find somewhere reasonably quiet where she can practice swimming.
How’s your week been?

I hope that the work she did in arts and crafts turns up, but great to read how well she handled the rest of the week.

Awww sounds so amazing! Congratulations on the medal!
I hope she can find her artwork. It must be very very frustrating to not find your work. My son would cry on our school run too if he cant find his work especially when he would make it for me. Goodluck with the practice and of course the game! #wotw

You’ve had a bit of a roller coaster of a week, but the high of your daughter reaching the swimming finals hopefully outweigh the stressful moments.
