The Jig – Weds 16th March 2016
By Jeannette | March 16, 2016
As many families living with autism will know, change isn’t welcomed sometimes and can be quite severely resisted. Not the case today for D, bless her.
Her class had a chance to try out something new in PE, they had a go at Irish dancing! I can only imagine how much fun that must have been, everyone trying to keep their arms straight and still, whilst their legs were dancing away!
She whizzed down the stairs from class this afternoon, with a huge smile on her face, went past us (leaving us surprised as she looked so happy) and made for the benches outside receiption where she did a little jig!
Can you imagine the stares and comments had she done that anywhere else but in the grounds of an SN school? I can. Today there were smiles, smiles that continued at home too.
Wouldn’t it be great if there were SN dance classes around our way that she could attend? I might have to have a look.
