Ants – This Week’s #WOTW and #R2BC
By Jeannette | March 17, 2016
You know when you have a song in your head, that makes you feel a bit like this:
Well, that’s been me this week.
A particular song has accompanied me on the school run, pestered me through meetings and seems to be firmly stuck there.
I’ll play something like (appropriately) “Shake It Off”, hoping the other song has gone, good old Taylor finishes and back it comes!
No surprise to me, that my word for the week is:
Ant or Ants, as in Adam and the Ants.
Hubbie and I watched an episode of Top of the Pops from 1981 last weekend and Stand and Deliver was number 1.
It has been rattling round in my head ever since, especially the lyrics “…and even though you fool your soul, your conscience will be mine…all mine”.
It’s been a bit like the episode of Friends where…
“[Scene: Central Perk, the whole gang is there, Ross is telling a story about what happened at work and the rest of the gang are thinking to themselves, denoted by brackets.]
Ross: So I told Carl, ‘Nobody, no matter how famous their parents are, nobody is allowed to climb on the dinosaur.’ But of course this went in one ear and out…..
(Rachel: I love how he cares so much about stuff. If I squint I can pretend he’s Alan Alda.)
(Monica: Oh good, another dinosaur story. When are those gonna become extinct?)
(Chandler: If I was a superhero who could fly and be invisible, that would be the best.)
(Gunther: What does Rachel see in this guy? I love Rachel. I wish she was my wife.)
(Joey is singing in his head.)
(Phoebe: Who’s singing?)”
That scene never fails to make me laugh, no matter how many times it’s repeated.
Back to the song (click here for video) though and what must be the funniest lyrics ever to view on subtitles:
“Qua qua, da diddley, qua qua da diddley
Qua qua, da diddley, qua qua da diddley”
Be nice if it goes soon though!
What else has been making me smile this week?
Well, it’s a week away from the end of term, hurrah! It’s felt like a short term but a lot’s been packed into it for T and D.
I’ve been writing this listening to D singing, she’s had choir practice for the Oliver performance today so she’s always full of tunes on a Thursday. Lovely to hear.
I’m glad she likes to sing, it’s relaxing unless you have the same song rattling around…
Have a good weekend 🙂

That’s a great song to get stuck in your head although I can imagine that it does get a bit annoying after a while! Glad to hear that D is enjoying choir practice and you are enjoying hearing her singing around the house too. Hope you get a change of tune in your head soon.

Ha ha, now it’s in my head, though! Hope it gets out of yours soon and something else moves in 😉 Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

Oh no. Not going to think of the song. I still have Postman Pat theme stuck in my head from when my children were toddlers. #WotW

I loved this song. Striding up and down the garden singing ‘Don’t you ever, don’t you e..e..ver’ as I type! #wotw

Gosh, I used to LOVE that song when I was younger, and now that you’ve brought it up again I remember just how addictive it is!
Hope you have a lovely week
