An “inset day” – Weds 2nd March 2016

By | March 2, 2016

That’s how D described today, “just like an inset day”.

She’s been off school at home with me, she pulled a muscle in her leg during Monday’s swimming lesson and as well as not being impressed with how it’s still hurting, she didn’t sleep well last night.  So, rather than masses of negativity building up for her as she bottles things up, she’s had a day off.

Normally she gets very upset if she’s not well enough to be in school, there’s generally tears and worries that she’ll miss whichever lesson is due that day, but today she was okay with it.  Maybe the realisation that, yes, her leg was still hurting and the subsequent tiredness, made her accept that today’s change was okay.  A definite step forward in terms of accepting change.

Hopefully she’ll be back at school tomorrow as much as it’s been nice to have that additional 1:1 time, she does crave the routine and Thursday’s are her favourite school day with plenty of music-based activities.

I thought I’d share my progress with crochet, it’s very relaxing which is a bonus when you have so many demands on time and pressures.

This was my attempt, a month ago, after my first two-hour group session:

And a week in:

This is the “monster” throw now:

Big enough to act as a throw on our sofa but I’m going to keep going and make a king-sized bed throw.

Not bad for a first attempt and I’m trying out a broomstick stitch too:

Called broomstick I guess because the hoops look a bit like cobwebs, maybe.  The ruler is to catch the hoops before they are stitched. It’s my project for group as the “monster” is way too heavy to take with me.

Glad D got to rest her leg and didn’t mind the time off to much! The crochet looks lovely. #SSAmazingAchievements

Hope the leg is better now. The crochet is really going well. I’m really impressed by how much you’ve done in a short time.

I hope D is feeling better now, I used to suffer from terrible leg pains so I’m sure the day off was needed. I’m glad she enjoyed the day off too. I’m really impressed with your throw.

Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)
