A Blast From The Past 

  
I’ve been listening to D reading her book from school today, it’s the Enid Blyton one above.  Who remembers reading her books?

I loved reading when I was D’s age and younger, I still do.  There’s nothing like the ability to get into a good story and be transported away in your mind, away from whatever growing-up angst was prevalent.

I don’t remember reading the Malory Towers series, for me, it was the Famous Five and their adventures.  Just spiffing! 

So, it’s been lovely to hear D reading, with lashings of (no, not ginger beer) but expression as she reads of the school life of Darrell and Gwendoline (D pronounces the latter Dwendoline).

To hear her read and attempt to tackle unfamiliar words is an absolute joy, especially when mainstream primary used to get frustrated because she couldn’t learn phonetically, it was only later (in SN school) that she relaxed enough in her environment to read, albeit by memorising the words.

An achievement for D that I’ll never ever grow tired of listening to.
