Whoosh! Mon 18th Jan 2016

Whoosh! That was D rushing past me at home time. Furious.
Why? Because, as I was waiting in my usual place for her, I was talking to another mum. Not talking so much that I didn’t notice her coming down the stairs, just chit-chat around life with autism. It helps to do that sometimes, to know that others face the some challenges that we do. That they understand if plans suddenly go awry or, that sometimes something is looked forward to so, so much that the excitement becomes totally and completely overwhelming and the actual event becomes almost an anti-climax.
So, anyway, off went our girl. Cross with me. Speeding through the door, almost running past someone else who smiled at us.
All because I’d done something different.
Any attempts to ask about her day were met with “I DON’T want to talk about it” and onwards she stomped, past the mainstream primary school that we have to go past ATM as the woods are impassable. It probably helped her that she was cross, she didn’t notice so much the swarm of people approaching.
In the end, she didn’t do either lunchtime club that caused her angst yesterday, neither were on, which no doubt contributed to her not-brilliant mindset at the end of the day.
A new day tomorrow and I want to see this smile again, I’ve missed it today:
