This week’s #WOTW and #R2BC

By | January 28, 2016

You may want to step back, maybe cover your nose and mouth….we’ve had “man flu” in the house this week and my lovely Hubbie is very generous with his germs.

No surprise then that GERM is this week’s Word of the Week.

We’ve gone from extremely warm, clammy and shivery on Monday to poorly tummies by today (or rather he has).  Mine so far is restricted to an extremely sore throat and aches in my cheekbones and sinus area, it’s a really weird sensation having achy cheekbones, almost like I’ve been smiling non-stop for days and the muscles have said “enough”.

The downside is, that being self-employed, going off sick has consequences but, on the other hand, he’d have been caught out by the wind and rain anyway – comme ce comme ca, as they say.

There are some positives though:

1.  Together

Yep, despite his “man flu”, he’s my man and we’ll had some germ-y time together this week.  Me making him laugh until he coughs and laughing about silly little things, finishing each other’s sentences etc.

The downside is that I haven’t exactly got as much as I wanted to get done, done this week.  Distractions and sinuses playing a part.

2.  Homework

T’s homework has been causing issues in recent weeks, he chooses his options this school year (a year early) and, in his logical “black and white, zero middle line” mind feels that he shouldn’t have to concentrate on the subjects he won’t be taking to exam level, for that reason.

School don’t agree.

We’re back on track now.  I used to hate being pushed and pushed when I was his age and it’s finding that happy medium of letting your child know you’re on their side, you are their hugest cheerleader but at the same time … setting those boundaries.

3.  Happy hair, happy J

The hairdressers I go to is right in the centre of Windsor and this was the castle today.  Beautiful sky and every time I walk past it, I notice something else about it.

It’s a bit of a pain, bus to town, train to Slough, another train to Windsor and then back again but it’s worth it for the way my hair feels now.  Definitely a happy hair day.

4.  Board not Bored

I sat in my first Board meeting in my new role this week and found it interesting.  I feel supported in the role and yes, I’m proud of taking this on and seeing what this year brings.  It will have its challenges, I’ve no doubt about that but I’m ready for them.

5.  De-lightful D

She’s had a good week at school, it’s definitely helped that we’ve had lifts to and from school when the weather has been awful (thanks to germ-y Hubbie) and, apart from a horrible meltdown in the rain earlier this week, it’s all been positive.

6.  Off?

At this time of the week I’m always optimistic that T will have a football game at the weekend.  He didn’t last Saturday due to the opposition having a water-logged pitch, so, let’s say if he does get to play it will be great, but I wouldn’t put money on it.

How’s your week been?

Oh dear, I do hope all of the germs leave your household soon. To be fair to T, he makes a good point there, doesn’t he?! School shouldn’t do the options that early, as many more might work this out, too! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

Oh, I hope the germs have left you now…. I’ve been ill since Wednesday with Mum flu… You know the type… you feel like death warmed up but still carry on!

I’m glad you have had a positive week regardless.

Ah germs, it’s awful, we have been under the weather too this past week and it’s such a shame when we do get a little bit of sunshine!
