Unsettled – Thurs 3rd Dec 2015 #WOTW
By Jeannette | December 3, 2015
The word above sums up not only our day, but our week too. Unsettled.
It’s unusual for me to choose a negative-type word nowadays, but what with timetable changes at school due to Christmas events and the build-up to change, it’s affecting both T and D.
Both haven’t had particularly good weeks at school, D in tears as she went in this morning over a house event she’d been put down for, but hadn’t had the confidence to say she didn’t want to do it. T unsettled and demoralised as he’s finding year 8, with options looming, quite challenging.
He’s also very upset about the air strikes commencement. Worried that he’s a half hour coach ride away from home and not really understanding why it’s happening.
It’s hard as a parent to attempt to justify the “why’s” and “how’s” and get across the vigilance aspect without scaring him silly.
He also knows how fortunate he is, to have the chance of a good education, to have food in the cupboards, to know he can walk to his school coach stop without watching the skies – or worse.
There has been eagerness over the advent calendars and – in D’s case – the arrival of Glitter, our Elf on the Shelf. Here’s where she landed today:

That does all sound rather unsettling. Everything’s different at this time of year, isn’t it? Nice to see Glitter there, though 🙂 Thanks for sharing with #WotW

Thanks, it’s all been a challenge for them. Glitter is enjoying finding new places to land and D absolutely loves finding her each morning x
