Silly – Tues 10th Nov 2015

D made me laugh and extremely proud in equal measures today.
She is so much happier within herself and calmer now that the “bullies” have stopped. It’s really good to see.
She amazed me this morning by telling me that she’d been playing “it” in the playground yesterday. So, you might think. Well, one of the “bullies” was also joining in and there is no way that previously D would have participated knowing that they were. No way. She’d have worried that they’d say something, or do something.
But play she did and we walked to school with her telling me how she’d “it-ed” her friends and their reactions.
(This is the good bit)
She also said that one of the “bullies” ran past her and blew a raspberry at her. She then said “I took no notice, because boys can be silly sometimes, can’t they?”.
Isn’t that progress? From a girl who could not stand up for herself when teased (she probably still couldn’t but I’m not testing that!) to recognising that the other child (who had made her a target previously) was just being silly. Isn’t that wonderful!
It gives me hope that, as long as she can talk about these things (even if it’s a while after), she’ll be okay. I’m not naive enough to think I’ll always be on hand to deal with whoever and whatever, but her confidence has definitely increased from a bit of intervention to sort out the situation.

It is, she’s got a long way to go but hopefully this is the start of an improvement for her 🙂

That’s brilliant – well done her. Such a good way to deal with teasing and bullies too – just brush it off as insignificant, remove the power and the interest doing it holds for them. #SSAmazingAchievements

So true, it’s not easy for D to always do this but hopefully we’ll get there 🙂

That’s fantastic news, I’m so glad things have got easier for her at school. I hope the communication continues x

Me too, it’s just a case of her recognising how to increase her confidence now x
