Touch line – Sat 17th Oct 2015

It’s not that often that I can persuade D to watch a football game that T is playing, but we managed it today. Albeit with a few anxious moments from her when she got a bit overwhelmed by the amount of people there (and it wasn’t as busy as it could have been).

It was quite chilly with a bracing wind and some threatening looking clouds:

But we were there.

I’ve previously been unsure if T appreciates me being there when he plays, I’m conscious that it’s a shared passion of his and Hubbie’s and I wouldn’t want to encroach on “their” time.  That has been made even more complicated with the fact I volunteer in the Comms & Events section of the club now!
After her initial angst, D settled with her camping chair, having brought a few books and her trusty iPad to keep her focussed on those and not so much on the fact that we were amongst strangers.

I’m glad we went as T needed a hug (on his terms) after a defeat and he’s been quite upset about the fact that not everyone plays with the same team spirit and focus as he does.  He gets totally into the game, gives his all and then tends to over-analyse and obsess a little about situations that could have been played out better.

It’s a challenge for him, not only is he playing a year up, but – after his team disbanded in the summer – he’s had to get used to a whole new team (apart from one other) and how they play.

It was a challenge to get D on that field too, proud of both of them.
