This week’s #WOTW and #R2BC
By Jeannette | October 16, 2015
Yippe for Friday! As ever, it’s time to think of one word to sum up our week (WOTW) and think positively around my choice (the R2BC bit).
I’ve found this week quite frustrating and therefore my word would be:
It’s been a week of waiting for people to call back, or waiting for repairmen. I am a “can do” person (years of being an Executive PA) and the fact that others – who are meant to be in a customer-facing role – aren’t, irks me.
And let’s think positively now:
1. Comfy T
T has his brand new bed and it’s mega comfy apparently. His room isn’t the largest of rooms and so we opted for a divan, which had the advantage of minimal assembly (yay!) and a ton of space underneath for storage.
The delivery men were excellent and huffed and puffed it all upstairs for me, but as I have to dash off for school runs at set times, I was clock-watching whilst waiting for them.
2. All set for the cold!
Another item ticked off my list has been the boiler repair. It’s been the topic of quite a few phonecalls that we pay an amount every month for home emergency response, they identity an issue and then decide the boiler is too old (or “vintage”) to repair under the policy, but then will for a top-up payment!
Bearing in mind we’ve paid them over and enough the cost of a new boiler in premiums, you’d think they’d be a bit more flexible/helpful/not disappearing off shift instead of returning a call?
Anyway, it’s done now and it made the time spent waiting in (again) worthwhile.
3. Another event
I volunteer within the Comms team for our local football club and there’s a “bit” of an event in two weeks.
I enjoy getting stuck into things like this and it’s a fantastic PR opportunity for the club to showcase themselves.
Everyone gives up their time for free on these occasions and let’s just say that there are varying degrees of enthusiasm and commitment to actually see things through. It’s understandable, it’s voluntary but it gets a bit “aargh” when I know there’s a much speedier and more efficient way to get things done, but I’m reliant on a fair bit of protocol and waiting for calls/emails to be returned etc.
But… like I’ve said before, I like a challenge, like to see things through and this fits the bill nicely!
4. Proud
We had an excellent parents evening meeting yesterday with D’s teachers, her confidence is always an ongoing issue but when I think back to the overehelmed, very scared little girl who couldn’t tolerate a mainstream environment, she’s flourished in her SN school, it’s a joy to read with her, to receive a note in a card or drawing and to hear her sing – wonderful!
5. Back Home
Hubbie’s dad had another A&E trip this week and fortunately it was a short-lived and effective solution. He looked quite frail after his latest visit but perky once his medication had kicked in. It’s a worry but thinking positively always helps.
All in all, a week of (eventual):

It does sound like a very eventful week. My week started of tiring. My boy woke up crying in the night two nights in a row- second time for nearly 5 hours straight! Then anxiety attacked as I went round the school he will be going to in September saying to myself “he cant do that (yet), he cant do this (yet), he doesn’t like to eat ‘normal’ food at ‘normal’ times”. Today I am drained but have done the housework already so I can relax once he is at nursery 😀 Hope you have a lovely day xx

Oh bless him, anxieties are yuck when they strike x

Sounds like a busy week, with loads achieved. I hate waiting on others, too, and I tend to spot more efficient ways of doing things which then frustrate me! Ah well, you’re sorted now 🙂 Thanks for sharing with #WotW

Thanks J, it’s good to get that “tick” eventually, isn’t it 🙂

Being reliant on people is never fun in fact quite often I find it frustrating. Glad to hear T is enjoying his new bed and that D is doing so well!xx

Thanks, T has become quite sloth-like, he loves it so much – don’t blame him in this cold weather!

Aaargh I can so relate. Relying on others to get back to you
and sort things is sooooo frustrating. I also find myself clock watching if I’m
bored with something or irritated. On the positive side though it’s great to
hear about D and your hubbie’s dad. #WoTW

Glad things are getting ticked off eventually and after being reliant on others, it’s frustrating when you’re a can do person and just want to get on with it but can’t isn’t it 🙂 #wotw

It is, finding it more and more, esp in my comms work where we’re volunteers x

I do hope your hubby’s dad will be ok, it’s frightening when a loved one is ill! Well done D, so good that she is flourishing xx

Me too, lovely. She’s doing so well x
