A Wish – Tues 6th Oct 2015

A wish from D today, ferverently wished on the way to school and on the way home.

“I wish the weather was calmer”

We’d walked to school not just in the rain, but a thunderstorm too.  The kind of torrential heavy rain where you know an umbrella, a raincoat and a hood aren’t going to help and you’re still going to end up soaked.  We were.

I love our walk to school, D does qualify for school transport and about 90% of the pupils do travel by minibus/taxi but whilst she’s still happy to walk with me, we will.  It’s a chance to prepare her for the day ahead, to (hopefully) soothe any anxieties or not-brilliant moods and her little wave and “bye mumma” as she turns at the top of the stairs to her classroom are very much part of our routine.   

But the rain does have an impact, we rrrrrrrocked that wet look and D’s wish was made.

Unfortunately, it was the same again at home time.  Her coat just had dried out and then we walked home.   In the rain.   Again.

D was miffed her wish didn’t work.   She’d been a bit worried because they’d talked about hurricanes and tornadoes at school today.   It might be a good idea not to watch the Wizard of Oz’s windy sequence sometime soon either.
