The Bag – Tues 18th Aug 2015
By Jeannette | August 18, 2015
It was time for another girlie trip to town today, yesterday seeming a distant memory for D. Alas not for me, as there’s D’s prescription fail to deal with, which may be ongoing for a while.
But anyway… happy thoughts! We had a lovely trip to town, D with her bag of goodies, which contained:
* Five books, one on Minecraft, one Rainbow Magic and three Star Academy (she didn’t want to leave any behind)
* Her iPad and headphones
* Bunny (naturally)
* and her water beaker and a packet of really salted (or ready salted crisps).
It’s lovely to see what D deems as necessary to get her through the day. I remember once when she was extremely annoyed at T and decided she was leaving home immediately, she packed her little bag without any clothes but some playmobil and her hairbrush! The latter being a complete surprise addition as she really does not like having her hair brushed, it’s wriggles aplenty time!
The bus going in was nice and quiet, D settling next to me to read her Minecraft book:
That book was carried in her hand all over town, she’d have her other arm linked into mine and she’d still be reading it as we walked along, when I had a quick meander into Phase Eight (lush!) and after she’d had her lunch.
In fact it only left her hands when we spied a Frozen magazine, which was bought and she really enjoyed reading on the bus home. Which was busier but D managed to hold her emotions in until she got off the bus and decided to kick the pavement!
D doesn’t normally notice people looking at her, but she did today. We decided that it was probably that they wanted to see what book she was reading, or that they liked her Despicable Me sweatshirt, or that they thought she was tall and lovely. Which she is.

I expect they were very impressed that she can walk and read, as am I! Sounds like a lovely day! #SSAmazingAchievements

That’s so lovely that she coped so well with the bus and you both enjoyed your trip to town 🙂

Sounds like a lovely trip into town and glad that she’s enjoying her Minecraft book so much – very impressed with D’s ability to walk and read and well done to her to for coping so well on the bus ride home.

Aww thank you, she does love her reading. The coping on the bus is a very recent addition, a very welcome one. She’d scream if anyone was next to her buggy (when we were still using it) previously.
It helps that we avoid busy busy times but she’s done very well x

Fantastic trip and well done for coping so well with the trip. I wish we could rely on books rather than technology. I feel like we get judgey stares then. #SSAmazingAchievements

Thank you, she loves her books but she brings the iPad and headphones out if we have to stop somewhere (eg, if I’m at a checkout). It’s difficult isn’t it, she is starting to notice the stares whereas she’d been oblivious before. X
