This week’s #WOTW and #R2BC

By | May 28, 2015

How has the half term gone by so quickly? I’m sure the school weeks don’t go this fast! Anyway, it’s nearly Friday and there is one word to sum up our week, one I don’t think I’ve ever used before:

Which is a very happy reason in itself.  I’ve been guided by T and D, recognising that it’s their time off school, their time to relax and just chill a bit, without me enforcing trips out which wouldn’t have gone terribly well.

As a result, T and D have relaxed, have caught up on sleep and actually sat next to each other, guiding and assisting themselves in their Minecraft and doing so without scrapping, without one belting the other and just got on (another happy reason).

But I have more:

1.  I did an update on how I am, it’s very easy as a SN parent to neglect myself, to think that my health and wellbeing are not important – when really it’s vital that I’m okay (inside and out) because I’m relied on.  I’m good, really happy.

2.   One of my reasons for feeling happy is that my ulcer has gone, vanished!  When I saw my dentist at the end of last week, he was concerned that it may be evolving into a cyst and he’d need to refer me to hospital, for its removal.  The thought of that was not welcome, so I’m mega pleased it’s gone away by itself.

3.  It’s not been warm enough for the pool to come out (it did in the Easter holidays), but it’s lovely to see the fruit-bearing plants coming along, we have:

Strawberries

Blueberries

and Pears growing in the back garden

and blackberries and raspberries in the front (I planted them right in a corner in the front because they’re prickly).  Will be great to have some fruit in the summer, the guinea pigs will enjoy it too.  We also have a grape vine but that’s showing no signs of buds yet.

4.  T has a football tournament this Sunday and D and I are going along to watch.  We don’t often do this but it’s only just down the road, I’m even done to help in the Bun Tent (with a chair for D so she can’t bolt!).  The weather looks a bit bleurgh for Sunday though … wish me luck!

5.  With the children heading back to school on Monday, I’m going to the gym.  If I’m serious about becoming a marathon running J, I need to work on all round fitness, especially stamina and cardio.  I used to be a bit of a gym bunny at lunchtime when I worked in an office, so I’m hoping the endomorohines kick back in quickly.

All in all, it’s been a fab week and it’s our wedding anniversary this weekend too.  We married on our two anniversary, so 15 years together and 13 years married.  Wouldn’t be without my soulmate.

Enjoy your anniversary and you’re absolutely right, you need to take good care of yourself too, although not always easy I imagine. A lovely relaxing week sounds exactly what was needed x

It’s so easy to get caught amongst the chaos and forget about ourselves isn’t it!.
Sounds like a lovely week.
Happy Anniversary to you both! x

I always tend to put others before me too when in real life if I really love the people I should take care of myself for them and my sake.

Good luck with starting the gym and the running bits. I am also running/walking a lot lately. Its so hard to go out sometimes when the weather is bad!

You’re right, you should. It’s very easy to think of others before us as mums and then realise we’re so tired (or in my case), behind with everything!

This is actually the second time I’ve read this, but the first time to leave a comment! I’m so glad the tournament went well, and that you chose to relax on your half term break xx
