Stepping Up – Mon 11th May 2015

Wow, just wow! I’m a bit in awe of what D has achieved today, in terms of overcoming her fear and pushing herself.
She did this (library picture):
Her class had a trip today, to an activity centre, designed to kind of “feel the fear and do it anyway”. Somewhere they went last year, which she couldn’t really remember attending and so there was a far bit of angst last night.
But she woke up smiley, dressed without any prompting and was all eager and ready for it today – as if a switch had “flicked” overnight, funny how that happens sometimes.
And participate she did. The library picture above was of her favourite activity: two children worked together; stacking the crates whilst hoisted up and totally trusting the staff members who were holding the ropes. I don’t know if I’d feel happy doing that – but I don’t have the head for heights that Hubbie, T and D have.
She told us that the tower of crates (or Lego bricks as she likened them to) got really high and then they (she and her classmate) decided to knock them down and they “floated down to the ground” – she loved that bit!
How utterly brilliant! She combated her initial worries about the activity, she worked with her classmate and trusted the rope-holders. When she came downstairs at the end of the day, she could not wait to tell me, her teachers were prompting her too, D also mentioned that everyone else in her class clapped and cheered for each other too.
Mega proud of her. This image I found today seems kind of appropriate too.

What a thing to take part in, I don’t think I could have done it. So glad she enjoyed it and was able to take part without any problems x

There’s no way I could have done that! She has an incredible head for heights!
