A Goal (mega)

By | May 6, 2015

I’m feeling a bit *wahey* today but also a bit “oh, what have I done?”

I’ve set myself a challenge, yes, another one.  The first one (getting smiley and combating a phobia) was huge and I’m now set for another.  One that I’m facing head-on and going public now, even though it will be nearly a year away.

I’ve signed up for the London Marathon! Of course I won’t know until October if I have a place but the preparation starts now, irrespective.

I’m (hopefully) taking part for the National Autistic Society, for two very obvious reasons. My lovely children.  But also because the NAS provide such a fantastic support network and masses of information at times when you don’t know where to turn.   I have learnt more during the last six years since D was diagnosed (and then T two years ago) than I ever knew about the spectrum, but it’s still not enough.  It never will be.  Any money raised with help them to keep on helping.

So, that’s it.  It all starts now.  I do have a few concerns which I’m sure I can found out online:

1.  I have the bladder of a pea, well maybe a bit bigger.  The thought of 5 hours plus without a wee seems not possible, so that needs investigating…TMI!

2.  Food for fuel.  Since my smiley surgery, my intake has decreased (swings and roundabouts), I need to establish the best foods for fuel and not quick fixes.

3.  Fundraising.  How? What means? I’m not a pushy-pushy person but that will have to change.  Would the organisers let me wear extra badges if I can persuade local businesses to contribute?  And I need a realistic target.

4.  Footwear.  Research needed.  My reebok trainers are fab for a jog around the field, will they go the distance (literally).  Comfort is a necessity too.

5.  And lastly, I want to wear this!

Practical? Nope.  But fab for purple-loving me or maybe I dye my hair.  Don’t know.

What I do know is, I have a goal and I’m going to do my best.  For T.  For D.  For everyone.
