This Week’s Reasons To Be Cheerful
By Jeannette | March 12, 2015
I wasn’t sure I had any this week tbh, the general mood for the children this week has been not a positive one.
There have been grumps and stomps, sulks and silence. Attempts to find out what’s wrong met with a metrophorical brick wall.
Most of the time I “know” what’s wrong, call it instinct/sixth sense/whatever but I tend to second-guess T and D, but it’s beneficial to hear them say, in their own words, whatever is bugging them.
Sometimes it’s a fast (and noisily angry) process, sometimes I could do with an imaginary can opener, but we generally get there.
Which is probably my first R2BC.
I think I’ve some more now:
2. Decluttering
Oh I love doing this, when I’m in the right mood for it. Sorting out for the charity shop, recycling and a good old Hippobag. I like the fact that the company aim for an over 90% recycle rate of whatever you put in.
So, that big sofa bed from the loft has come down, along with lots of other bits. The garden has a big hippobag in it, but it’s clear and tidy apart from that.
I can only do this sort of thing when T and D are at school, I guess them coming home to changes may not have helped this week.
3. My wellbeing
I’ve hit my 10k steps every day this week, Saturday and Sunday were about 8.5k.
The fact I’ve knuckled down and spent 4 days sorting out clutter and stuff means I’ve got a real sense of achievement, nicely positive.
No jogging this week but labouring for 4 days has probably made up for it!
4. It’s Good To Talk
It’s difficult sometimes to have a conversation at home, a proper one. T and D don’t wait for pauses in conversation and if either of them is upset, any Hubbie-Wife chats have to be carried on later – if we remember.
Thank goodness for mobiles! We catch up during the day, Mr BC is finding the run-up to Mothers Day tricky and I’m still kicking my phobia up the b*m (not connected) so we’re there for each other, as we have been, as we always will.
5. Little Plastic Balls (!)
When I’m not decluttering, I’ve been threading play balls onto a clothes line for the garden … or a necklace for a giant.
To be continued…
6. Roobarb
D discovered the delights of Roobarb (and Custard) this week. She loved watching a few episodes (and the theme music). A chance for both Hubbie and I to reminisce about children’s TV “back in the day”.
Six isn’t bad, is it?

Sounds like there’s been a fair bit of learning out, both physical and emotional? Very intrigue by the balls on the clothes line too 🙂

We’re always learning – or trying too, sometimes more effectively than at others x

Oooh, decluttering, now that is something that I really need to start doing. Thanks for the motivation…. plan to hit one of my cupboards today… although not sure which one to start with!! 🙂

It’s always ongoing here 🙂

It is great to have a declutter, and spring is the perfect time to start! It is difficult with an ASD person in the house though isn’t it? I find it’s hard to do a declutter with my son home because he wants to keep everything, and hard to do it when he is away because he comes home from school and the place is different x

Same here Lauren, anything I do has gone to be within school hours, which always complicates things x

Ah kids back in the day tv was good! I hope you feel better for a de clutter I know I always do. Hoping you have a grump free week next week (well as much as is possible!) x

I actually read both of your r2bc posts last week, but couldn’t comment on my kindle! I do love a good declutter, hence my massive project house x
