Sway – My Word Of The Week

By | March 13, 2015

My word to sum up this week could have been any number of words, it’s been another topsy-turvy one.

I’m going with Sway though because I started a little project for the garden last week.

I have these little waves of inspiration sometimes, this one came from seeing a decorated tree at the special needs adventure playground and also decluttering. I love decluttering (when I’m in the right mood)!

I found some bags of cheapo play balls at home, the ones that cost about £5 for 100 and just aren’t up to the job of “play”, whatever the description says.

I bought them during my child minding days and realised very quickly that they could easily be chomped by teething children so into a cupboard they went.

This is how I started off, threading them onto a washing line, with the aid of a little jewellery screwdriver:

D thought it looked like a necklace fit for a giant.

Soon it grew:

And then there was the “do I fix the other end to the back gate? How many swirly whirly things to put on?” and “will it look daft?”

In the end I hung it through the trees which are just starting to blossom.

It sways in the wind and looks so colourful.

D loves it and T thought they looked cool too.

I’ve got enough of everything to make another one for the other side but … unfortunately in my decluttering mood this week I hacked the buddleia and forsythia back so that they’d grow straighter this year.

In the meantime I might do something around the trampoline edge at the top.

It’s been a little piece of swaying and swirling calm in a busy and quite fraught week for all.

That looks brilliant! Great idea, and I’m glad it offered you a bit of swaying calm in an otherwise fraught week x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

Thanks, they’ve faded in the sun but stayed up in all the recent winds *yay* 🙂
