Giants etc – Sun 8th March 2015

By | March 8, 2015

It’s been a day in which we’ve been continuing to make (as D calls it) “a necklace for a giant” aka a sensory item for the garden.

Definitely work in progress, 170 balls having had holes and strung so far! (Not that we’d counted them, there were 30 left from a bag of 200)

It won’t be hanging down like that when complete, there’ll be two strands, strung out along the garden with wind sock, floaty things.

It’s also been about preparing D for returning to school tomorrow, her knees are much better but will still be dressed.

There’s going to be a bit of a competition tomorrow, to see which “house” can walk the most steps, I think.  D is House Captain of her “house” and I thought she’d be excited about it.

Nope.

Tears, lots of them and protests.  She doesn’t want to take part, but she also doesn’t want school to know that she doesn’t want to participate.  Tricky eh?

It’s taken a lot (understatement!) to calm her down, we’ve been singing, funny little songs.  “Santa Claus is coming to town” made an appearance (D loves Christmas songs), as well as the song from “The Smartest Giant In Town”.  She was imagining George (the giant) wearing the “necklace” we’ve been making.

And now she’s settling, happier.  I can imagine that her anxieties will resurface tomorrow.  At least I guess I’m prepared.

I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx
