Double Whammy – Weds 4th Feb 2015

By | March 4, 2015

Poor, poor D.

Not only was it injection time this morning, which – understandably – she’s gets very anxious about, but she also got pushed over in the playground after lunch and, as a result has very poorly, bloodied knees.

She’s extremely visual so the sight of the abrasions and bruises coming up is making her even more fragile.

School phoned me after it happened and said she was “fine” and that she’d said she didn’t want to do dance club after school, at which I thought “well done D, for saying that you didn’t want to go, for speaking up”.

What they didn’t say what an absolute state her knees were in and that they were only cleaned up before her leggings went back on …. so you can imagine that the wounds were full of tiny little material fibres, all stuck to the dried blood, which is going to definitely hinder the healing process.

D has a severe allergy to plasters so it’s gauze and micropore tape on occasions like these.  I would have been only too happy to have gone into school and dressed her knees if they’d said.  They’re also hurting her too. Slightly miffed Mumma here.

But it could be worse, I’m grateful it’s not.

She understands that the wounds need to be looked after and there will be ouchie bits from the tape going on and off and the cleaning.  Something I’ll be doing at home with her tomorrow, with a duvet day.  Bunny will be in for a lot of cuddle-duties too.

T wasn’t too pleased at plans changing at the last minute, we normally have some coffee shop 1:1 time whilst D is at after school club, he’s been okay with her though thankfully.

I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx

You would think that school could have used micropore tape, that’s hardly an expensive item to keep in the first aid kit *frowns*

I know, very strange, esp as I’ve seen it all in the cupboards when she has her injections *frowns back* x

Thanks, it always does but it’s frustrating that with nurses etc, they can’t cover it with gauze x
