It’s been a successful day in terms of getting those things done that we always do – T’s homework and D’s reading.

They’re both happy, they’ve had their routine, their meals at their usual time, their game-time, their winding-down time. With one week to half term, the latter is particularly needed.

But, for me, it’s all felt a bit same-y. I get like this sometimes. When I was just a bit older than T, I’d be out on my bike, meeting friends, having enjoyed a Saturday wondering what new record to buy and a browse at the lipsticks etc in Boots.

Much as I’d love to suggest something impromptu, it wouldn’t work, the aftermath from the changes would be more far-reaching than any benefits gained from the impromptu-ness.

I know, I should be grateful that T knuckles down and gets on with his work, he knows he needs to do it and – yes, there are protests – but he gets it done. And D’s reading, it’s always lovely to hear her read, all the more wonderful when we were given no assurances that she would read.

So I am. Grateful, I mean. I just need to shake this same-y feeling off.

I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx
