Tears – Weds 10th Dec 2014

By | December 10, 2014

The end of term (Friday week) can’t come quickly enough for D, she is so tired.

She has an ongoing issue in that she doesn’t alert staff at the time if she’s unhappy about something at school, she withholds the emotion and builds it up until she sees me at the end of the school day, or later.

Yesterday’s didn’t surface until settling-down time last night when she got extremely upset that a classmate had been playing a game in IT club and given a character a caesarean, or something like that. Anyway, D was terrified that her tummy would be cut open. Not quite sure what the game was but D was very implicit in the “tummy cutting open” bit and I can’t see where else she’d have got that from.

This afternoon brought another one, tears as soon as she saw me, emotions that had been withheld. They’d watched a DVD in class, she couldn’t remember the name but the title was the little girl’s name. The thing that most upset D was that it had an evil head teacher in it, D’s HT is fab but it’s left a negative impression on D.

If it’s the film I think it is (from D’s description), it’s a PG (Parental Guidance), which, in an ideal world parents would have known about before and could prepare themselves for any reactions.

The main thing I guess is that once D had got these upsetting emotions out of her system, she was fine. A changed child, as if that switch had flicked over, the one that keeps emotions in check.

I forgot to include a Glitter picture yesterday, she ended up in the caps by the height chart:

And today she was flat out in the Christmas tree:

Looks comfy, doesn’t she? Were we all Glitter-sized, that would be a nice place to end up at the end of term, just chilling…

I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx
