Not the best start – Tues 9th Dec 2014

By | December 9, 2014

…to the day today.

Injection time for D. The last one of 2014.

As with every time, I say to her that it’s over with more quickly if she’s still and co-operates. She’ll agree and we’ll have our walk to school, holding hands, pointing out magpies and pretty looking leaves.

Then we’ll get to the nurse’s office and D’s anxieties start.

She’ll refuse to go in, to let the door be shut. Then the wriggling will start, anything to get the nurse away from the injection site. Twisting, wriggling and protesting.

Today it took three of us. Two to hold her still, one to administer. That sounds awful but once the injection is mixed, there is a small amount of time before it solidifies (and would then be even more painful).

Today’s was “a sharp needle” according to poor D. A cuddly D who didn’t want to leave me at the classroom and nor me her.

The walk of guilt away from school? You bet.

And her sensitive mood has continued this afternoon and evening. She’s been cold, still coughing and extremely cuddly. Sensitive to her brother’s asides and comments on the way home.

Cheering up at b a t h time with some singing, but it’s all a bit late by then, isn’t it. Routine etc.

I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx
