Inbetween – Sun 28th Dec 2014

The last weekend of 2014, the middle weekend of the Christmas holidays and it’s been a relaxed one (little sibling niggles aside).

I guess, from tomorrow, we start the countdown to T returning to school a week tomorrow (Monday) and the matter of a couple of bits of homework to be undertaken.

Part of me wants to not remind him until next weekend because it will then turn into a “mañana mañana” few days (and T will get very frustrated at being reminded), another part thinks “let’s get it out of the way” – but that will have repercussions for all of us (especially D) in the form of adverse emotions and lashing out. We’ll see how things pan out tomorrow (yes, that mañana approach!).

There is also the fact that D has two inset days before she returns, whereas T will be back next Monday, leaving the house at 750am. He really doesn’t like it when D has an inset day and he doesn’t, although loves it the other way around!

All in all, both are coping very well with the holidays, both have relaxed far more than I anticipated.

We watched “The Boy In The Dress” today – BBC iPlayer link here – a really nice story of a boy who feels different whilst adapting to a challenging home environment. The football aspect resonated with T, whilst D enjoyed seeing the dresses. Well worth a view.
