Cosy – Fri 26th Dec 2014

By | December 26, 2014

It’s funny, isn’t it, all the build-up to December 25th – the shopping, the events and the “have I remembered such-and-such?” – and it’s all over with so quickly.

D was so, so excited about Christmas this year, maybe a little too excited. She was worried she wouldn’t sleep on Christmas Eve and therefore there would be no visit from the man in the big red suit (her literal side to her brain).

T had been absolutely itching to tell her the truth behind Father Christmas and Glitter, but thankfully kept it to himself. Hopefully he’ll refrain for a few more years. D’s excitement was lovely to see, plenty of flapping and bouncing on the spot.

She loved opening her presents and we only had one dodgy moment, just before lunch when I thought she wouldn’t be physically and emotionally able to sit down at the table. Big, big cuddles later and she did, her and T eating the one of the two hot meals that they will both eat, Hubbie and I having a more Christmas-y type lunch (not turkey though).

The Elsa build-a-bear that I thought she would love (it sings “Let It Go”) has remained more or less where she put it after she opened it, similarly the soft Elsa (yes, a bit of a theme) doll. What she and T have both enjoyed – and they did receive quite a few – are their new books. Books on Minecraft and football for T, Minecraft and Frozen for D.

If I could sum up our Christmas in one word, it would be:

Cosy, when D insisted on wearing her new, very soft and pink, dressing gown all day. Cosy, that T liked his (navy blue) one too. Cosy, all snuggled up together on sofas, watching Nanny McPhee. Cosy, with cuddles galore, even from T (who, has been mostly tolerant of his sister) and has been a happier young chap with no early starts for school.

Cosy times.
