Remembrance #Prose4T
By Jeannette | November 6, 2014
Fading names on an electoral roll
You fought
You gave your body and soul
Sent off with basic training
Maybe enhancing your age
Working as a team
Regardless of title or race
Brave, brave men
In circumstances of horror
You are commemorated
In every poppy, with honour
Other wars since then
Fighting for justice and good
Whole generations of families wiped out
Men who gave what they could
No chance of a goodbye
Memories linger on
“The Last Post” playing mournfully
Evoking tears and respectful silence
Remembering those who’ve gone
Wear your poppy with pride
Whether it be a single or multiple
Don’t forget those brave women and animals too
They gave their lives for our freedom today, for me and you
