All Change – Mon 27th Oct 2014
By Jeannette | October 27, 2014
It’s always difficult to know how the change of the clocks from BST to GMT will affect T and D, D in particular.
Both are extremely visual and D especially has found it hard to cope with the fact that the clock is saying one thing (the new time) and her tummy is saying another. I feel that you can sometimes set your watch by D’s tummy, she has a knack of knowing when it’s meal time, even before she’s looked at the clock.
In previous years I’ve brought things forward by 15 minutes or so, but now that they can both tell the time (or in D’s case, know that the big hand pointing upwards means something), I feel I’d be creating further difficulties by mucking around with the times too much, especially as they’ll both be back at school next week.
And it’s getting darker earlier. Darkness to D signals “midnight”, which invariably causes problems if she’s been at after school club or we’ve been out in the dark. She worries that she’s missed tea (that tummy again!), that she’s missed bedtime, that it’s “midnight”, bless her.
At least it’s half term and we can make allowances for, adjust and adapt. We’ve got the whole week after all.
I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx
