Off Kilter – Mon 15th Sept 2014

By | September 15, 2014

On the face of it, it’s been a successful day. T trotted off on time for his school bus, his bag bulging with the books he needed for the day and D went into school happily, eager to share that she’d been to Taplow on Saturday.

But scratch beneath this morning and you’d find:

D’s burbling anxieties over the child that pinches and punches her

T’s agitation that he’d written a few dates down incorrectly in his planner and therefore homework deadlines had been missed
Resulting from that, the fact that he’d have to find those particular teachers outside of when he’d usually see them for lessons (routine and therefore change of) and hand it in.

But, D has said this evening that one of her “boy friends” will be acting as her “protector” in the playground. Quite how far this lovely little chap will take this, I don’t know, but it’s good to know that someone at school “has her back” and is looking out for her.

And T, it’s going to be a lesson learnt that sometimes mistakes do happen, things can get written down wrongly (very easy to do in the first few days of a new term in a new school) and it’s always good to double-check.

He did come home saying that he’d played football with some boys at lunchtime (his trousers indicated that too!) and that is really good news. If he’s feeling confident enough to join in and mix, especially in football (he lives for football) then we’re extremely pleased.

Maybe it hasn’t been such a “off kilter” day after all, I hope everyone’s has gone well Jx
