Surprisingly – Mon 25th Aug 2014

By | August 25, 2014

If you took all the ingredients for today, you’d probably come up with a different outcome:

The rain – it has not stopped all day
Traffic – the festival near us over the last few days meant that everywhere would be gridlocked
It’s so close to the end of the summer holidays, we should be due an “I’m bored” or two
We haven’t. It’s been a really nice day. A day in which T and D have gone on, playing together but separately (Minecrafting) and T sounding genuinely pleased when D has managed to craft something and vice versa.

A day in which Hubbie and I managed to do something we hadn’t done for absolutely ages (no, not that!):

Chess. Something that started out as “Best of 3”, then 5, then 10.

T was fascinated by the various moves and the all-encompassing power of the Queen, compared to the much weaker King. He wanted it to be as competitive as possible (that’s my boy) and could not wait to see who won (Hubbie). It’s something we’re both looking forward to teaching him when the time is right, I think he’ll be very good at it.

Tomorrow, weather permitting, sees a trip to the hospital chemist as they refuse to post out D’s prescription (to save costs, 60p versus £5 bus fare, hmmm), hopefully it won’t be too busy.

I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx

I’m a terrible person, I was the one who started sniggering over the “no, not that.”

Isn’t it lovely when a day you are half dreading gives you so much pleasure?
(PS we had the sunshine and we’re not giving it back)
