Magnifying – Weds 13th Aug 2014

By | August 13, 2014

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that give the most pleasure and fascination here.

Items that you might think would be discarded after a few minutes, keep D occupied for ages. It doesn’t mean that I get anything house-type done because every few minutes (probably not even minutes) there’s a cry of “Mumma, come and see this!” With the prospect of being dragged over if I’m not there quickly enough.

Intrepid D and the magnifying glass, something I saw online and thought would be great for nature/explaining the use of lenses (after all, 3/4 of us now wear glasses) and generally a bit of fun. We all did the “let’s hold it in front of our eyes and look a bit like ET” and then D was off, exploring leaves, insects, the unsuspecting guinea pigs (who got excited thinking she had a treat) and grass, lots of grass. The butterflies must all be hiding after the strong winds as there weren’t any around to be peered at today.

Her favourite topic of observation though had to be…

T’s been on good form too, he’ll have had his first day at secondary school in three weeks and he’s still so calm about it all, bless him. I hope the next three weeks don’t whizz by as first as the last three weeks and that everyone’s had a good day Jx

Magnifying glasses look like great fun for all children! Also loved your last weeks turn taking story! It’s so nice when you can play a game with rules with the kids when both follow the rules!
