I went to the shops and I bought.. #SSAmazingAchievements
By Jeannette | August 12, 2014
We had a bit of a “wow” moment today, an indication of just how far D is coming.
There’s this little game that we play sometimes, it’s a memory game. It also involves turn-taking. With the vast intellectual variances between T and D, there’s also the chance that he’ll get frustrated that D isn’t either waiting for her turn or forgets what she’s meant to be remembering and it can get abandoned very quickly.
Today, though, it was giggle-filled and fun.
“I went to the shops and I bought..” starts with one person saying something, eg. a book and then the next person says “I went to the shops and I bought a book and (then their turn, eg) an apple” and so it goes on.
Ours went something like:
Me – a magazine
D – a magazine and a tiara
T – a magazine, a tiara and a Ps4
and so it continued.
(You can see from this our particular interests!)
Anyway, we got to 7, which is a bit of a personal best. Ending with D laughing and saying “I can’t remember”.
Turn taking and memory games, definitely an achievement and a bit of a Magic Moment in this house today!
We’ve also had some beam-inducing news which I’m looking forward to sharing once we have an idea of timescales, I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx

I remember playing this game at guides. Never really thought about the skills it encourages. I’m glad this game ended in giggles. Your news sounds interesting! I hope I haven’t missed it. It reminded me to activate my email subscription again x

How great that D’s developing quick enough to be able to join in more and more, and that T is being as patient as an older brother can be. Popping in from Magic Moments.
