Definitely time for #R2BC

By | August 14, 2014

The fact it’s Thursday and it’s positive thinking is very timely.

T had a bit of a moment today, unusually for him it was instantaneous and noisy, he’s normally a “silent withdrawal and quiet protest” chappie.

Unfortunately it stemmed around food, something we usually get around by giving him the same breakfast, lunch and dinner, day in day out. It must be monotonous but if we did it any other way, he wouldn’t eat. It gets me down and concerns me that his (very) selective eating will mean that he stands out from his peers (eg. on school trips) but we generally take each little bit of progress as a tiny victory (but don’t make a fuss).

Anyway, today I made some cheese scones (totally wonderful smell whilst they were cooking) and T liked them so much I decided to make some more, with chopped bacon in. I figured that, as he likes spicy crisps and he liked the previous scones, this would be okay. Wrong! Ipad and headphones thrown down (fortunately both okay), shouts, protests, no willingness to listen to an explanation. In the end it was easier to just leave it.

So, I need some Reasons To Be Cheerful, I’m feeling a bit of a failure:

1. Scones

So, whilst the bacon ones are a “no-no”, the cheese ones were a hit and T enjoyed them. That’s a positive.

2. A bike or a …..

We had some fantastic news this week and the picture above is a clue. I’m not “counting my chickens” until we actually have it but it will make a massive difference to our school runs.

3. Supplements

I’ve been taking a vitamin supplement for nearly a month due to my damaged nails and it is making such a difference already. They are growing incredibly fast and hopefully the damage will grow out by the end of the year. My hair is super-shiny too.

Before the damage happened, I was a shellac manicure girl every month or so and I haven’t had one since January because they’re too delicate, so it’s a bit of a thing for me.

4. My lovely Hubbie

Yes, that’s you, Mr Bluecrisps!

He’s now finished an 8-week very intensive job (he’s self-employed) and is now back to running from little job to little job, juggling people who phone and remind him about their outside painting every time there’s a bit of sunshine.

Anyway, once he’s been paid for this job just finished, he’s offered to either upgrade my phone or buy me new glasses. Now, much as I would LOVE to get my hands on a newer phone and get some more memory (it takes about 15 minutes to reply to a blog comment if it doesn’t crash, which is why I reply in blocks every few days), the prospect of glasses to reduce my headaches is much more beneficial to me health-wise.

5. Three little piggies

We made the decision to move our guinea pigs outside a couple of months ago, the poor things have endured some horrendous weather ever since, they’re still very sociable though, I can be in the kitchen and one of them will squeak at me as if to say “if you’re opening that fridge, I wouldn’t mind some cucumber”. A relief to see them okay after the recent high winds and this constant heavy rain.

(That’s two, the other one is in a separate hutch as he’s a grumpy piggie, prone to fighting).

I’ve found more “reasons” that I thought I would! I hope everyone’s day has gone well and thanks to the lovely
@ojosworld for prompting me to see the positive side Jx

I know the feeling re: food. You tried, it didn’t work, live and learn, he still tried something new!
What supplements are you taking? My nails could do with some help, they are so week xx

Thanks lovely, the supplement is Viviscal, pricey (which is why I held off from getting them for a while) but the difference to my nails and hair is amazing 🙂
