Bonding – Sat 23rd Aug 2014
By Jeannette | August 23, 2014
Sometimes a day goes better than you could anticipate, today has been one such day.
It was the first wedding anniversary that Hubbie’s dad was facing as a widower, to say that we were concerned how he’d be was an understatement.
But thanks to a silly chocolate moustache lollipop, some cake from M and S, a D showing a fantastic interest in the greenhouse and people being around him, it’s been okay. It’s lovely that D is so interested in plants and their growing cycles and he’s so willing to share how to grow them with her.
It was a day in which we’d pre-chatted to T and D about why Grandad might be feeling sad and how we wanted to make him smile, they listened (for a change) and were extremely well behaved there.
They both did very well, we all did. T was extremely cuddly before and afterwards too, which would a welcome addition, he’s not a “cuddles” boy, in fact his favourite saying this holiday has been “Don’t Touch Me” but today he needed them.
I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx

I actually welled up when I first read this. It reminds me of my dad, who’s been a widower for over eight years. It was lovely that your kids did so well at a difficult time. That last phrase, referring to your boy, is so powerful!

Thanks Phil, I was extremely proud of my children, it’s been quite a challenging time with more to come but they do manage to make their Grandad smile.
