What I like – Drawings by D

Recently D has been involved in a community project at her SN school. It’s something we willingly gave permission for as it involved asking the pupils about their likes and dislikes and emotions, something that D can struggle with when stressed.

One of her final tasks was to speak on video and to draw what she especially liked doing.

If anyone had said to me at school “you’re going to speak on video”, I’d have flatly refused. I always used to think my voice sounds a bit “posh” on tape and just wouldn’t have wanted to do it. Nope, no.

Not so my D, I guess the questions and atmosphere was structured in a way that it was fun, I can envisage her laughing away. A great example of a SN child absolutely flourishing in the right setting for her.

And the drawings? I thought they were fantastic and so positive.

D likes:

Crafting (no surprise there, she is always fashioning the tiniest jewellery/bags/paper “things” out of anything and everything):

Baking (something we’re going to do a lot of in the summer holidays):

Swimming (we’re lucky enough to have space for a frame pool and, weather permitting, there’ll be a lot of swimming and splashing):

Roller coasters (she definitely does! The faster the better for my girl! Hopefully we’ll fit in a theme park trip or two this summer):

This last one made me very happy –
Mine crafting/football with T (they have occasions when they scrap and squabble, but to see them sitting side-by-side advising each other because they’re both in survival mode is just lovely):
