A trip and a change – Tues 1st July 2014

By | July 1, 2014

This was D this morning. She could not wait to get into school and commence her day, which included a 7-class trip to Legoland. Lucky children!

After all that excitement, she had after school club cricket too, so it was an extremely tired but very happy D that T and I collected a little later on.

It was a change for T too. He enjoys our weekly coffee club trip whilst D is at after school club but really resents it if we have to stop off in any other shops. He detests supermarket shops and any quick pop-in, even if it’s to pick up something for him, is met with silent but very furious protests.

So, we tried something different today. I would meet him there, I need to start loosening those metaphorical apron strings in advance of secondary school.

It meant a different route for him to take and just one crossing of a road. It’s the route we normally take on a Tuesday and it’s usually quiet, he dislikes people walking too close behind him so I knew as long as he focused, he’d be okay.

And he was. He smiled his little smile when he arrived, delighted to see his drink already waiting and without any shop visiting.

A small achievement for others, a big one for T, walking along a different route by himself and into a quite busy shopping environment.

I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx

Thanks Hayey, very proud of T and how he’s coped with all the uncertainty during the appeal 🙂

Well done T, going to high school is such a big change. I remember from that point is when I started taking myself to school. I bet my mum hated every minute, I know I would now. It’s all about making our children independent isn’t it?! I hope D had fun at legoland, I have really missed going this year. I hope we can go again next year.

Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)

Thanks Jane, it’s definitely a big step for him, including a school bus twice a day. He’s so positive about it, I hope it continues.
We’re hoping to get to Legoland this summer too, MMW said no this year.
