Changes – Mon 16th June 2014

By | June 16, 2014

Much like yesterday, today has been a day of changes, as far as very quickly changeable moods have gone.

Whether it is because we have one pre-teen having entered puberty early (too early!) and one definitely on the way, or whether it’s those intellectual and emotional variances rearing, extremities of moods have definitely been in evidence.

D was still very sensitive about Friday and its inevitable alterations to her routine, when she remembered that she has an injection looming (next week). Our journey to school was riddled with observations that it would hurt, that she could feel injection marks everywhere, that if she had one in her finger, it would go straight through. Urgh!

Then she’d say “but it’s best to have it done quickly because then it doesn’t hurt so much”. The understanding is there but I guess sometimes those dastardly anxieties just overwhelm her.

All seemed calmer at home time, D had received “star of the day” and she was able, very maturely, to tell me that one of her “boyfriends” had shouted at her in morning break and she hadn’t bottled it up, just been very matter-of-fact about it.

There was lots of bouncing around on the trampoline but moods changed very suddenly and it went from happy giggles to annoyance in the flick of a switch as T decided he’d had enough.

At times like that, I feel like a referee, albeit to two very different teams as either end of the league.

And then moods change again with tickles aplenty between T and Hubbie albeit with D meowing (yes, meowing) because she wants to show us all something upstairs.

A further change, with a chat with D about her day and the playground incident, with my explaining that (hopefully) what was said wasn’t meant and all should be back to usual tomorrow.

When we’ll do it all again…I hope everyone’s day has gone well Jx
