Unnecessary Anxieties – Weds 28th May 2014

By | May 28, 2014

When D hasn’t been anxious today, it’s been lovely.

Because she isn’t in a playground environment, any little niggles she might have with T (for example, if he brushes past her, she takes it as a “push”, she’s very sensory) have been dealt with and brushed over immediately. There’s even been a couple of instances where they’ve been laughing together at something on Minecraft, which was just lovely to see and hear.

But those anxieties have surfaced today, about me and my silly cough/cold/don’t-you-dare-develop-into-flu thing. She worries that it’s something more serious. There was a letter brought home from school weeks ago about scarlet fever, which she was very worried about at the time and we spent a while going through the symptoms and establishing that, no, she didn’t have it. Nor do I, but it hasn’t stopped her getting very concerned that I might do.

As with yesterday though, there can be a degree of empathy until a routine trigger and then that need takes over.

It doesn’t feel like we’re achieving much in terms of “things” this half term but I am grateful I’m not doing school runs in the rain!!

I hope everyone’s week is going well, thanks for reading Jx
