Togetherness – Mon 6th May 2014

By | May 5, 2014

I like Bank Holidays spent like today. We don’t “do” the garden centres or DIY stores as they’re invariably too busy for T and D and I’d concentrate on their anxieties and totally forget whatever I’d wanted to pop in for.

All around our little semi in suburbia there were the sounds of lawns being mowed, of garden trimmers and general DIY-ing.

Not for us, D’s spent the day just where she wanted to be, next to her Mumma! Occasional happy flapping, lots of cuddles and, because she was relaxed, little chats. I love it when she’s in a chatty (sometimes one-sided) mood, when she’s like this, we can talk about any little niggles she might have, without her getting overly upset and emotional.

She did tell me something about school, about what the other children say (negatively) to her at playtime and why she thinks one particular child does it. I wish she would stand up to them but at least she tells me and I can then reassure her.

T’s had a good day too, his way. He’s either been looking at football videos/FIFA-ing/telling us about football
facts and statistics. That’s his “thing”, his obsession, luckily he’s good at playing it and he always amazes me with his memory and degree of knowledge.

Back to school for T tomorrow with D having an inset day, more chat-time I hope.

I hope everyone’s day has gone well and good luck with the return to school tomorrow. Jx
