My multi-tasking #WOTW and #R2BC
By Jeannette | April 6, 2014
I’ve been a bit late this week with linking up on the weekly Reasons To Be Cheerful and Word Of The Week.
It’s a time when I can multi-task so I’ve put them together.
My word for the last week is:
And here’s why (the R2BC bit):
1. T’s paperwork for his secondary school place appeal all had to be in at the school (not the Council) by last Monday. I decided that I’d much rather hand-deliver it as, even though it would just be going down the road in theory, in practice, any local post heads off on a train to Swindon, gets sorted and then comes back as our local sorting office has closed.
So, off we all went last Sunday. The school looked just as clean and well laid out as I remembered and T looked so confident walking around, until we realised that there was no letterbox. Nowhere to leave the papers. Aaaargh!
There is an gym attached to the school which is open at the weekends and firstly, we had to remember which building it was in and then find someone who might be able to help.
We found someone who had a key and he really kindly came with us, opened up Reception and we left the paperwork there, ready for the Admissions lady the next day. He didn’t have to, but I’m very grateful that he helped us. Now we just have to wait (and wait)…
2. Poor D’s had an injection this last week, a hospital appointment and an eye test. It’s funny sometimes how her appointments end up being lumped together, with just a day or so in between. If I’d tried to move any, they’d be deferred by ages.
The injection mix-up in February has now been sorted out for going forward and the nurses couldn’t have been more positive and helpful in putting D at ease (before they put the needle in!!). Ouchie.
The optician we see for D’s eye test is very SN-aware and he was patient with her and that enabled him to put her at ease to obtain a more accurate reading. She’s chosen some new (quite funky) glasses as (as with everything) she’d grown out of the old ones, as well as needing a different prescription.
3. I’m running a nightly slot on my blog where other parents/carers/individuals on the autistic spectrum have been sending in guest posts about anything autism-related. I was very nervous that a) no one would want to take part and b) nothing would come through in time but it’s going well so far and if it helps just one person reading it to either not feel alone or become a bit more aware, then job done.
4. I’m so glad it’s the Easter holidays with no school runs for a while. A chance to (maybe) get T and D to help declutter a bit more and get the frame pool ready for (hopefully) better weather. I have a tent-thing to go over it (which was intended for the trampoline but I’ll adapt it) to prevent twitching curtains and, as I’m not an octopus (would be useful at times), T and D can help with the holding of fiddly poles and assembling of it.
Those are my reasons behind my word, linking up with The Reading Residence and Ojo’s world Thanks to them both for hosting x.

You have been very busy this week, and have so much going on. I think your new daily posts idea sounds a good one, as as you say, if it helps one person then job done. Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
