Support – Thurs 27th Feb 2014

By | February 27, 2014

I’m having a bit of a multi-task tonight, it’s been “one of those weeks”, which followed one last week.

For reasons which I haven’t yet gone into, D was very let down by our local doctors which resulted in last week’s poorly D and their (the doctors) lack of co-operation has meant that although we thought we were four months down the line with treatment, we’re more than likely back at the beginning.

It’s not fair on her and calls aren’t being returned (by the hospital who initiated the treatment), potential appointments to discuss are impossible to get and I was floundering, really floundering.

Until today.

The school nurse at D’s school asked to see me and we went through everything that had (or hadn’t) been going on. She has said she will try and get through to those people who aren’t returning calls and try and get some answers. To finally feel that someone has taken the time to a) listen and b) offer support is a relief.

I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed.

It’s been fab to see some sun this week (although snow may be on the way?!?) but “support” is both my Word Of The Week and my Reason To Be Cheerful this week because positivity rules!

Thanks for reading Jx

Annoyed. You are a fab mum and should have back-up from the authorities not rubbish. Keep seeking support from whatever agencies/charities that can help you kick ass when needed. @kateonthinice

That sounds really hard, it’s very difficult when those in the system don’t play fair. Or at least it seems that way. Thank goodness for the school nurse. I hope she can help move you forward x

Thanks Jocelyn, me too. Even if the nurse gets no further than me, the fact she listened, was as frustrated as I am about it all and offered to help was fantastic 🙂

I know where you are coming from having had a nightmare of the last six months, I think the consultants secretary knows me by voice when I call now. Thankfully, I too have just had some support with a review appointment I’ve been waiting for for ages 🙂 Good luck xx

Thanks Anne, I’m glad your appointment is sorted and I hope it goes well. It’s the complete lack of response that is so frustrating. Good luck 🙂

So glad to read that the school nurse has offered that support. I haven’t had to deal too much with the health service (touch wood) but in a situation like this it is so incredibly helpful to have an advocate for you on the inside as it were. I hope she can work some magic for you. #WotW

So agreed Sam, if there’s anyway she can get beyond the “wall” and get some progress, it would be fantastic 🙂
