Relief and a little rebellion! Tues 25th Feb 2014

By | February 25, 2014

After almost ten days of continuous cuddles (as she wasn’t feeling well), D went back to school today.

Yesterday had been an inset day and last week was half term so I was relieved at the timing of it.

There is a policy at D’s school where the children who are in the upstairs classrooms are required to make their way upstairs unaccompanied. This is to encourage independence but I do feel that when D has not either had a great start to the morning/an anxious day, to then be faced with a (potentially) busy staircase by herself is a big ask.

Anyway, I was a bit of a rebel today. I wanted to update D’s teacher face-to-face on last week and not be reliant on notes and also to advise of next steps. So….I went up too. Lightening didn’t strike, I wasn’t chased away and the objective achieved. He was updated immediately and D was visibly happier too. Not that I’m going to make a habit of it.

D had trampolining after school club so it was a chance to have an hour or so with T, which is always nice in a bombardment-of-football-stats way. Extremely proud of him for reasons I’ll share tomorrow in #SSAmazingAchievements.

It was a relief to see a happy D at the end of her longer school day and, although it’s meant a slightly more rushed evening, she’s had a good day.

Just glad I broke the “rules” and D’s teacher was flexible enough to allow it. A previous one wouldn’t have but that’s another story.

I hope everyone’s day has gone well, comments/RTs/shares as ever welcomed, thanks for reading Jx
