Grateful and New Life #R2BC

By | February 6, 2014

I’ve been a bit of a grumpy grots this last couple of days, joining in with Reasons To Be Cheerful at @Ojosworld is always a chance to focus on the positives of the week.

So, in reverse order, my Reasons this week are:

1. The constant precipitation (aka rain) and wind have taken their toll on our garden fence. It is down completely on the neighbours side where the cat-chomping dog lives. However – positive spin – I’m glad Hubbie and I were at home when it happened, at least it didn’t come down in the night and the cats skipped out unaware.

There are people a lot, lot worse off with this weather, their homes are wrecked so I should count our blessings that, at the moment, it’s only fencing.

2. Renovating a dressing table as a desk for D has taken the best part of a week, in small sessions. I’ve rubbed down, painted and painted again, bought new k n o b s and put an old blind on the top and one side. It looks totally different to the golden pine slightly battered thing it was and D is delighted she has a desk in her room. All it cost was the price of some reduced paint and k n o b s.

3. And finally, I heard some lovely news today about a fellow parent at D’s school. Tragically her first son who was in D’s class died nearly 3 years ago from complications arising from an operation to try a cure a genetical condition, there is another son at D’s school too with the same condition and potential need for an operation.

She went into labour today with her third child, they know it’s a girl and all seems well. I am so, so pleased for the family and that news has given me the best R2BC this week.

So, that’s me, looking forward to reading what’s been making others happy this week.

Lovely final reason, I can’t even begin to imagine the tragedy of losing a child so it’s nice to know that there are some positive things happening for the family. Love the desk make-over, it looks great 🙂

That’s lovely about your joy for the fellow parent. New life is always a beautiful thing. I love the desk. Great idea. I wish I had the patience and talent to do something like that!

Thank you, it was so lovely to hear news that all was well 🙂 I don’t usually have the patience for projects like the desk but knowing D would use it (and she is) was a good incentive 🙂
