Two bookends and a T #WhatsTheStory #MagicMoments
By Jeannette | January 27, 2014
Life has a great deal of uncertainties in it, but also some certainty too. There is a beginning and an end. It’s what we do in the middle bit that counts.
The picture above was taken just over a week ago, three generations of men I care about very deeply. A son, his father and his father.
Their lives were irrecoverably changed nearly six weeks ago but there they are smiling for a photo, looking happy to be together.
On the left is my Hubbie aka Mr Bluecrisps. In the middle is T, our cheeky little man, our football-stat loving T who is doing us proud and will continue to do so, he might have high functioning autism but it does not have him. Finally,on the right is Hubbie’s dad. A man learning day by day to live a different way of life, suddenly.
They look like bookends don’t they. With T in the middle.
Because of genetics, T is pre-disposed to have his dad’s (and Grandad’s) hairline, I joke with T sometimes that he’d better make the most of his lovely hair because it will be gone and he’ll be heading for grey – probably – by the time he’s 30. At the age of 11.5, T thinks everyone over a teenage is positively ancient and he’s having none of it! In his logical mind, it’s his hair and it’s not leaving him, no way.
Maybe science will have progressed in the next decade and a half and T’s full head of hair will continue but if it doesn’t, life goes on. It has to.
I wonder if there’ll be another picture like this in 30 years or so. A couple more Bluecrisps family bookends and a cheeky chappie in the middle, I hope so.
I’m linking this up with Magic Moments and What’s The Story as a three generation picture is just so special.

I kept looking at the similarity between your hubby and his dad – they are SOOOO similar, I didn’t even spot your son until a few seconds later 🙂 Lovely photo!

Really moving post, hope they are all OK. I thought hairline came from the maternal line x

Thank you, yes, they are doing far better than I thought they would. I had read about the maternal line too but my men have either bucked that or maybe T will keep his lovely, thick hair 😉 thanks for reading and commenting x
