A fluttery friend – Sat 11th Jan 2014

D has always loved butterflies, she likes to watch them, draw them and she dreams that she is one. “D the butterfly” flies high in the sky and does good deeds in her dreams, this is one of her self portraits:

A year and a half ago (it really doesn’t seem that long ago), we cultivated butterflies and I blogged our photographs here as the caterpillars grew and grew, we cultivated a smaller number last summer too and one took up hibernation residence above the doorway in a bedroom.

Until today, D and I heard a fluttering of wings by the front door and we found a very awake butterfly desperate to get outside!

He/she popped on my finger before it flew away to a flower in a pot. D was absolutely fascinated and, unusually for her, kept very quiet and still around it, she will normally flap and jump about.

It was a nice relapse in a day in which D’s been quite agitated, I think the off-Monday, school Tues and Weds, off-Thursday and then back in Friday has really upset her routine, hopefully next week (and a full week at school) will be better.

T has been a bouncy, happy chap today, his game was postponed (again) this morning but he did manage to see a game this afternoon, a nearly-back-to-routine day.

I hope everyone’s day has gone well, comments/RTs/shares as ever welcomed, thanks for reading Jx
